CAP Group and A2A - Experimental bioreactor for the growth of fungal strains

Client

CAP Group
A2A

Application

Sludge treatment

Purpose of the project

The experimental bioreactor for fungal strain growth is a pilot plant designed and built in order to further research related to alternative processes for the degradation of recalcitrant substances in sewage sludge.

The objective of the experimentation is to achieve, through the use of innovative technologies, the conversion of a waste, produced by wastewater treatment, into a resource that can be used in other sectors.

Work amount

Euro 130,000.00 (per individual project)

Performed services

Feasibility/final/executive design of process, electrical, civil. Realization and construction of the pilot plant.

Activities

  • Gathering information and defining the actual needs of the research institution
  • definition of project bases with client
  • Drafting of documents necessary for the implementation of the Pilot plant
  • presentation to the Principal and implementation comments
  • Implementation of pilot plants with defined safety conditions (EC regulations)
  • transportation, installation and commissioning

Project Plus

  • Allow the development and growth of fungal strains and sludge treatment in a single reactor
  • Build the reactor with the goal of ensuring that the reaction takes place in a defined temperature range
  • Innovative technologies to be introduced in full-scale sewage treatment plants
