Industrial waste water treatment
The purpose of the project is to evaluate the possible treatment trains required to allow the Client to discharge into the sewerage system in the event that the current discharge exemptions are revoked. It is emphasised that the limits provided for by Legislative Decree 152/06 are not in force at present for the Client, which has nevertheless considered the possibility of envisaging a treatment plant capable of achieving these objectives, with a view to environmental improvement and planning future actions.
The study was not limited to assessing possible tail-end plant alternatives, but an evaluation was carried out in cooperation with the client to carry out a water balance of the production process and evaluate possible management interventions.
A study was carried out on the discharged flow rates by recording them on an hourly basis. In addition, an analytical campaign was carried out to better characterise the discharged effluent.
Finally, the design made it possible to evaluate various plant alternatives, either by means of a traditional biological process (CAS) or by means of a membrane process (MBR). Finishing treatments with ozone and activated carbon were also designed, in order to remove any colour components typical of the textile industry.
