Purpose of the project

With the entry into force of Lombardy Regional Regulation No. 3 of 24 March 2006, the plant required an upgrade of its purification capacity.
Design flow rate = 1,200 m3/h in dry weather – 4,400 m3/h in wet weather

Capacity = 120,000 A.E.

Adaptation of the Merone (Como) purification plant to the new emission limits established by Lombardy Regional Regulation no. 3 of 24 March 2006.

Project Plus

  • Anaerobic nitrite handling supernatant treatment system with reduced energy consumption
    and reagent consumption (approx. 30% electricity and 40% COD savings);
  • New MBBR moving-bed biomass post-denitrification section;
  • Filtration on cloth filters for 4,400 m3/h.
