Preliminary design for waste treatment plants with anaerobic digestion

Client

Waste treatment plant operators

Application

Waste treatment by anaerobic digestion and biological finishing

Purpose of the project

The aim of the project is to provide the necessary technical elements to evaluate the possibility of revamping/expansion of existing plants aimed at increasing the quantities and types of waste collected, with the simultaneous production of renewable energy from BIOGAS.

The planned treatment chain consists of waste water reception, pre-storage, anaerobic digestion of the most heavily loaded waste water with valorisation of the biogas produced, pre-treatment of the thickened and centrifuged digestate by means of nitritation-denitrification SBR, a water line for finishing the pretreated digestate and for treating waste not suitable for digestion.

Performed services

Preliminary design

Project Plus

  • waste treatment with anaerobic digestion, minimising energy consumption related to aerobic treatment wherever possible;
  • valorisation of the biogas produced for the production of electrical and thermal energy;
  • SBR pre-treatment of the supernatant by a nitritation-denitrification process, minimising energy consumption and the dosage of external organic matter, which is necessary in nitrogen-rich and organic-poor digestates;
  • Miglioramento dello scarico finale grazie ad uno step finale aerobico (SBR o MBR
  • Preliminary landscaping

Activities

  • Inlet storage and equalisation section design
  • Anaerobic digestion and biogas upgrading line design
  • Digestate treatment design by nitritation-denitrification SBR
  • Design of a biological finishing section
  • Design of sludge management lines produced by the different plant sections
